Normalize calling us Native Nations rather than Tribes. Specifically, the term five civilized tribes is adhering to the colonization of who we are (imo). Referring to us as Tribes infers we are inferior to ‘civilized’ people. And capitalize the words. 1)

A child has now died. Nex Benedict (they/them) was a nonbinary child. They were beaten, viciously in a high school bathroom of Owasso High School. They died the next day in the hospital. Ryan Walters' rhetoric is contributing. How it started: How it's Going:

Native Nations know what community looks like. We take care of elders and children, working to ensure each is clothed, sheltered, and fed. And it’s done for non-Natives as well. This is what leadership looks like.

Did you know? Powwows were a way for Native Nations to keep their songs and dances alive when it was illegal for us to practice our ceremonies. It wasn’t until 1978 that we were ‘allowed’ to be FULLY Native. We are here and we are THRIVING! It’s a beautiful day to be Indigenous!

While Oklahoma declined the summer EBT program that helps feed hungry kids, the Chickasaw, Cherokee, Choctaw, &Osage Nations will provide food to Native & non-Natives in rural areas of the state, providing much needed relief to families in need. MVTO!

I’m really grateful that so many Oklahomans are giving credit to the Native Nations that steeped up to feed hungry children. Could y’all please just start capitalizing the words Tribe, Native Nations, Tribal Nations, etc.? We deserve at least that. Not doing so is inconsiderate.
