We’re very capy to share some exciting news - three capybara pups were born at Audubon Zoo on July 20 to proud parents Turkey and Sequoia!
The capybara family is currently behind the scenes, but keep an eye out - you might just catch a glimpse while riding the Swamp Train!

- Last week, a 200-year-old oak tree that was damaged by Hurricane Ida fell in Audubon Park. Arborists found bee hives inside the tree and called beekeepers to safely relocate the bees before the tree was removed. The bees left behind a gift for our three black bears - honeycomb!

- We’re heartbroken to share that Hazel, Audubon Zoo's beloved Virginia opossum, has passed away. Diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma, she was humanely euthanized on April 24 after a rapid decline. Hazel touched thousands as an Ambassador Animal and will be deeply missed. ❤️🩹

- An adorable baby prehensile-tailed porcupine - called a porcupette was born at Audubon Zoo on October 15th! This is the fifth infant of Jasmine (Mom) and Quill (Dad) as part of @zoos_aquariums Species Survival Plan. You can see this sharp family in Nocturnal House!
