General practice in deprived areas is relatively underfunded and under-doctored How should the #inversecarelaw be tackled? We've looked at 30 years of efforts in England, to work out what works, what doesn't & what to do next. 🧵👇 health.org.uk/publications/r…

For most of my life getting married wasn’t legally an option for me 🏳️‍🌈 This woman is the absolute best, in all the ways. We’ve decided to get married and I am the most happy 🌈🙌🚲🥳

Despite rhetoric on #healthinequalities, the current UK #vaccination strategy discriminates against poorer people. 🧵 below on why. Immediate action needs to be allowing vacc sites to move down cohorts (& providing supply to do so) @CdsPcn @NikkiKF @CMO_England @Jeremy_Hunt

The Health Foundation has been a wonderful home these past 6 years. This role @NuffieldTrust really is the stuff of dreams. How fortunate and grateful I am. Here's to wonderful colleagues, current and future.

General practice in areas of high deprivation is under-funded and under-doctored relative to need. Paper out today on why Govt needs to ‘level-up’ general practice & where they should focus. 🧵👇🏻 on evidence for #inversecarelaw in #generalpractice.

We got through our over 80's cohort on day 1 of vaccinating. We're desperate to be able to vaccinate the bulk of our eligible patients (i.e cohort 4) but @NHSEngland say 'no'. We can vaccinate, and we want to, but we're having 2 weeks with no deliveries.

Recruitment, retention & workload in #generalpractice are challenges across England. But not equally so. Pleased to share @HealthFdn research with @CommonsHealth setting out the degree of inequity in the provision of general practice.
WATCH: In our session today, @BecksFisher described the unequal impact of funding and workforce shortages on GP practices in areas of high deprivation. Watch the session back: parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/2d…

Calling for 'more GPs' isn't enough. Unless the GP workforce is distributed in line with population need, we'll further widen inequity in provision of #generalpractice. And boy is it currently inequitable. Great to collab with @JohnFord1849 & co on 👇bjgpopen.org/content/early/…

My preference is to talk about 'how to increase vaccine confidence' (rather than 'vaccine hesitancy') & 'under-served' (rather than 'hard to reach') people. Interested to know what language others think is best. bmj.com/content/372/bm…

The last few months in #generalpractice have felt hectic, even by usual #GP standards. short 🧵👇🏻 looks at what appointment/workforce numbers show, with some thoughts on the important bits that those numbers can't tell us....

Poverty is a risk factor for death from #COVID19 , but it's overlooked by the JCVI. Many of my clinically extremely vulnerable patients live in overcrowded, inter-generational households where relatives still have to work outside the home. They can't shield properly.
