Congratulations to @AndyBurnhamGM, defeating Reform in Makerfield and substantially improving 2024's majority despite national headwinds. The rightward drift is not inevitable. It can be prevented with the right policies.

Great news! London now has 3,000 zero‑emission buses 🚌 Together, these buses are cutting the equivalent of ~118,900 London-New York flights in CO₂ emissions each year. A major milestone, which will help to cut pollution, protect public health and tackle climate breakdown.
A teal double-decker London bus parked on a city street beneath large leafy trees, with buildings visible in the background. The bus displays the message “I am London’s 3,000th zero-emission bus” and “Helping improve air quality for all,” along with Transport for London branding and electric bus symbols

Football doesn’t cause abuse. Abuse does and abusers do. England winning, losing or drawing only increases domestic abuse incidents. Why does any of this need saying?

Because messages like the below only help to setback progress to eliminate violence against women and girls.

Buy Back Brixton! 17,000+ people have now signed the petition backing community ownership of Brixton Market, opposing its selloff to private equity. Join the rally taking place on Brixton Station Road this Friday at 6pm to stand with our local independent traders.
Black poster-style graphic with a rough, textured border. Large distressed white text in the centre reads “BUY BACK BRIXTON.” Below, smaller white text says “JOIN THE RALLY,” followed by “FRI 19TH 6PM.” Minimal design with white brushstroke lines on a black background.

Good luck to @AndyBurnhamGM in the Makerfield byelection. Today's vote is a choice between a vision of hope for the country or a divisive nationalism that serves only the few. Vote Andy, vote Labour, vote hope!

This event should never have gone ahead. Now there is a prima facie case that people were advertising land in illegal settlements contrary to law. Referring this to the ASA is wholly inappropriate and completely inadequate. The government needs to act.
