This isn't a victim statement. There is no 'victim'. This is somebody enforcing his religious beliefs on the rest of society, whether we share them or not.

The police have also published his street address. @gmpolice have just ruined this man's life - having arrested him for something that is NOT a crime - he will now likely never be able to return home.

If you have a standard X account in the UK - presumably the vast majority of British users - you cannot see any protest footage that contains any violence tonight. Because of the Online Safety Act. A relative in America sent me this screenshot of one blocked post

Burning a Koran is NOT a crime. @SpeechUnion will remind the police of this as many times as it takes to get the message across. Islam must have no special protection in British law.

Men who have burnt Korans in recent months have been variously held in police custody, been named by police, and even had their address published by police. Suspected of forming a Hezbollah cell and you get released on bail.

If made law by @AngelaRayner, Labour’s definition of Islamophobia would criminalise: - anyone who expresses any view that criticises “expressions of Muslimness” - ex-Muslims who have escaped Islam and want to talk about why - women who criticise the face veil or headscarf
