One down, three to go! @RedSox Nation, this one’s for you. We challenge @GustavoDudamel and the @LAPhil to show us their best theme song. Let’s go Red Sox! #DoDamage
As we remember Seiji Ozawa's legacy, take a look back with us at his very first performance as BSO Music Director in 1973, conducting Berlioz’ "The Damnation of Faust" and setting the stage for a 29-year tenure.
Wow! 🤩 It was a joy to have @MayorWu perform the second movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 with us as part of Concert for the City yesterday at #SymphonyHallBoston!
From Seiji Ozawa’s initials on top of #SymphonyHallBoston → a memorial outside of Ozawa Hall @TanglewoodMA, we honor Seiji’s lasting legacy in Boston, the Berkshires, and beyond.
(2/3) Our longest-serving conductor, holding the title of Music Director for 29 years (1973–2002), Seiji was a kind and thoughtful humanitarian, a musical genius who combined a balletic grace at the podium with a prodigious memory...
(3/3) ... and an inveterate lover of all things Boston and its sports teams. His legacy lives on through our many fond memories and his unforgettable recordings. View our tribute to Seiji → bit.ly/3HPZ8JP
Introducing our new assistant conductor, Anna Rakitina! Anna will join the BSO for her 1st podium appearance as assistant conductor during the 2020 Tanglewood season. She will become only the second woman assistant conductor in the Boston Symphony’s history. Congrats!
We wish @Andris_Nelsons a very happy birthday!
We celebrated his 40th birthday at the conclusion of Saturday evening's concert with a special surprise for Maestro Nelsons.
