The British Arachnological Society (BAS) is the UK’s only body devoted exclusively to the study of arachnids (spiders, harvestmen & pseudoscorpions).
- Here we go again @MailOnline. No-one has issued an 'urgent warning to Britons' and why would they? A nature reserve with very rare species, including spiders, hardly warrants a warning. These are small, harmless animals; this particular one is all of 3mm long. @nationaltrustUrgent warning to Britons as more than 50 different species of spider are found in a nature reserve - including one that has NEVER been seen there before trib.al/y1LutgN
- Spider of interest - Marbled Orbweaver, Araneus marmoreus. This spider is adult at this time of the year so, amongst the var pyramidatus, look for the less common var marmoreus with its various colour variations. Found along woodland edges, dense hedgerows, bramble etc.

- This beautiful spider look as if it's wrapped for #Christmas. Silvery appearance in spiders results from light reflected off thin crystalline plates of guanine (an excretory product) deposited under the hypodermis - e.g. in some Tetragnatha species and Theridiosoma.シロカネイソウロウグモ。 綺麗だ。
