Recently, CDFW safely removed a 525-pound bear from a crawl space in LA County after the homeowner was evacuated due to the Eaton Fire. The homeowner was able to return once power was restored, and the home is now bear-proof.

Meet P75, the latest addition to the @NatlParkService mountain lion study. CDFW and NPS worked together to remove the young, female lion from an LA County trailer park Monday, outfit her with a tracking collar, and release her into wild habitat in the Santa Monica Mountains.

It was a good week for CDFW. A young female bear whose paws were badly burned in the Carr Fire was successfully released back to her natural habitat. CDFW and UC Davis collaborated on the bear’s innovative treatment involving sterilized tilapia skins as biologic bandages.

The Los Angeles River has been home to film crews for movies like Grease and Terminator 2. It could soon be home for something entirely different, like fish and wildlife. See what’s being planned by CDFW, @LACity and @USACEHQ.
