    This morning, a member of our Crib Support team was seriously injured after a fall at the Fire Academy's Stow campus. We are deeply grateful to all the staff who rushed to provide medical aid. We ask that you please spare a thought and a prayer for him and his loved ones.

    III) Vertical & horizontal ventilation is completed. Throughout the exercise, clear communications & command structure is emphasized. Following the drill, actions were reviewed & lessons reinforced. Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, & Division 2 participated Group 3 on duty.

    II) Simultaneously while other fireground activities, are in progress, firefighters initiate the search for any victims in zero visibility atmosphere. One simulated victim (mannequin) is removed to the exterior. Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, & Division 2 - Group 3
    To start the search for victims, Firefighters advance into a staircase shrouded in a thick haze or smoke, with metal handrails visible on both sides.

    I) The next training segment today, 6 April, included a combined, multi-company evolution, with an attack line stretched and hoisted to an upper floor via a hauling line. The line was rapidly advanced, charged, & operated on the "fire." Group 3 on duty.

    Today was a busy training day for the Hovey Av companies! Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, & Division 2 started the skills review with RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) hands-on, including rescuing a simulated "downed" firefigher via window at the Training Facility. Duty: group 3

    Your Firefighters at Work: In the quarter ending on March 31, 2026, Cambridge fire companies responded to 3,913 Emergency Incidents which generated 8,679 responses. This included 18 building fires, 283 fires of all categories, 1843 EMS calls, 56 elevator rescues, & much more.

    For a flare-up in a pan on the stove, turn off the heat source & carefully slide a lid or cookie sheet over the top to snuff out the fire. Wear your oven mitts so you don't burn your fingers. If the fire is out of control, call 911 from a safe area.
