Nikki is currently waiting to be released from the 1st Precinct w/ supporters there on-site.
It’s clear that using an unmarked van and plainclothes officers to make an arrest for vandalism (in the middle of a peaceful protest) is a massive overstep. I'm exploring legislation.

- We’ve just received confirmation that Nikki has been released. Thank you to all the advocates who have been bringing support and attention. Now it’s time to hear from @NYCMayor about how he will address this arrest and the future of unidentifiable policing in NYC.
- I’ve been working to get details on why a young woman was arrested & pulled into an unmarked van in my District. Right now, we know she’s been fingerprinted & awaiting her desk appearance ticket. We’ve shared this info w/advocates & believe she’ll be released in next hour or so.
- I just spoke to the CO of the 13th who said "the NYPD's Detective Bureau Warrant Division identified a wanted person & carried out an arrest." Clearly we need an ind. review + an immediate explanation for why an unmarked van full of officers was anywhere near a peaceful protest.NYC is taking after Portland - a trans femme protestor was pulled into an unmarked van at the Abolition Park protest - this was at 2nd Ave and 25th Street
00:00 - Appreciate seeing folks wanting to empower Puerto Ricans, but there's a right way to do it: Give them the power to choose their own status, and provide them the financial stability that they are owed in order to succeed. Anything else is just more colonialism.
- BREAKING: 1 in 4 people in New York State are now fully vaccinated. The end of this pandemic is in sight, if we keep vaccinating, keep getting tested, and keep wearing masks.
- I voted because my grandmother is ill and deserves long-term care. I voted because my mother has worked hard her whole life and deserves social security benefits. I voted because women merit respect and a choice over their healthcare decisions. I voted for Kamala Harris.
GIF- My budget vote was always going to be guided by whether we were investing sufficient dollars from the NYPD into BIPOC communities. @NYCMayor would not work w/ us to make these needed investments, which is why I can not support this year's budget. My remarks from today's vote 🔽.
- BREAKING: @NYCMayor announces dedicated vaccination sites are coming for theater workers to help get the lights back on Broadway and Off-Broadway.
- I can't wait to go to the Open Streets. I can't wait to go to the locally owned recreational marijuana shop. I can't wait to go to the combination Open Street and locally owned recreational marijuana shop.
- This will jeopardize the health, safety + futures of countless young people studying in the US. It's a disgrace this administration continues to use the pandemic as a cover for xenophobic policies. Another clear reason why we should move to #AbolishICEICE announces that foreign students attending colleges that go online-only either have to transfer to a school offering in-person instruction or leave the country...
- *Never* heard from @NYCTSubway that they were removing benches from a local station in my district. Reasoning was cruel to the homeless, to those who can't stand for long periods of time, to workers that have to wait a while for a late night train. Put the benches back, MTA.
- Since we passed the ban on police chokeholds, many of my colleagues & I have continued working on additional police accountability legislation. I can not support any bill that rolls back the chokehold bill or any other progress we’ve made, when we have so much work still to do.
