Absolute carnage at @HeathrowAirport All train lines closed - some planned, some not. Hundreds waiting for buses. People wandering around lost. Parents crying. Staff overwhelmed, a few trying to help, others avoiding passengers, chatting behind grills in the tube entrance.

This is utterly shameful- an embarrassment for the UK, for @TfL and for Heathrow management. I accept flooding wasn’t planned but seriously - at least try and direct / help passengers to alternatives.

Finally! We had to drag them here but the government has finally listened to parents and teachers and will ban phones in schools by law. This is a hugely welcome move that will back school heads to finally remove phones once and for all.
Two students in school uniform sit indoors during a break, looking down at smartphones held in their hands.

There’s another (crucial) bit of the puzzle though: “But there is one major caveat: tactical voting. For the first time we have explored how tacticalvoting could reshape the model projections. It suggests the Liberal Democrats could be big winners here…

“and if that if tactical voting is anywhere close to the scale we saw in Caerphilly, that parties of the left could deny Reform a majority and form a rainbow coalition of their own.” Voters know what they need to do. Just ask those who supported @SDevonPrimary

Remember when Brexiteers raved about the trade deals we’d sign once we left the EU. Well, five years on from Boris’s botched deal, let me show why these deals are worth absolute peanuts compared to what we lost thanks to Brexit. @LibDems

The lesson surely must be that the Government should listen to farmers and the wider rural community across the piece on the issues that matter to us. The Government could have saved themselves a lot of time and heartache if they had started with an approach based on respect.

The Government has announced changes to Agricultural and Business Property Relief reforms (APR and BPR), set to be introduced in 2026. We’ve consistently pressed the Government to rethink these reforms and welcome the changes. Chair @amcarmichaelMP shares his view 👇
    Alistair Carmichael MP, Committee Chair

“Farmers need clarity, stability and a system that genuinely works for them. If the Government is serious about supporting domestic food production and the long-term future of our rural communities, that will be the Prime Minister’s New Years resolution for 2026.”
