I have 200 employees, now 60%+ migrants, 1st or 2nd generation. I’m in Missouri (Hawley country). Let me tell you about the migrant workforce.

You want to protect American jobs? Strengthen the American work ethic. If I recall correctly, it’s the right wing of America that believes you ought to work hard and not take a handout — that merit and a free market is superior. Show me why buying Americans is a good deal…

The average migrant worker is running circles around the average spoiled white kid. *note, I am a spoiled white kid. They’re frugal, thrifty, and communal. The American folks are on their phones, alone in their car at lunch. The migrants eat and laugh together.

The biggest issue America faces isn’t a migrant workforce driving down wages. The average migrant worker is creating multiples more in value than the average American. The issue is Americans are being outworked. There’s no more honest victory than outworking the other guy.

They’re reliable. They’re hungry for opportunity. They’re good hearted people, deserving of everything they’re given. I have several 18-20 yr olds living at home, paying rent and caring for their parents. They don’t take things for granted.

First, they’re all legal. If you’re hiring illegals you are either: 1) small and can avoid mandatory reporting 2) gigantic and can justify the efforts it takes to conceal the risk/reward 3) have no choice because Americans won’t take the job.

We pay 135% of the median income in our area. That’s 85% of the *household median income. We show no hiring preference to any class or status. For every migrant we hire, we’ll FIRE 3 non migrants for being lazy, dishonest, or unreliable.

They’re loyal, and we get to show that loyalty is a two way street. Healthcare, bonuses, extra hours, flexibility….

My biggest problems with migrant workers: 1) 40 hours isn’t enough. I have a dozen working two 40 full time jobs. 2) I have to speak to them in English 3) the non migrant workers.

Let’s clear some things up. Immigrant, not migrant… my bad 😅 We hire 4 people born in America for every 1 immigrant. We’re in the whitest part of America. We pay at the 99th percentile of our industry. White people line up (literally) for these jobs. The immigrants here are

This post is about two things: 1. I am repeatedly impressed with the immigrant work ethic. 2. I am comparatively unimpressed with the non-immigrant work ethic. This post was not intended to make a statement about the merit of immigrants in the country, legal or illegal.
