Important to be familiar with instrument names. I know different names used depending on Geography. Anyone do a North American version for me? #SurgEd #CoreSurgicalTraining #BasicSurgicalSkills

Securing a drain. Lots of ways of doing this or as I was taught….lots of methods but this is the right one…. Don’t believe it. Learn from each other. 🥸👍 One of the skills in our foundations course. Seems simple but very important to get it right.

To accompany the video of needle mounting. Probably even more important not to use fingers! 👍👍

The Connell stitch to turn the corner on a side to side. Ignore the chipmunk commentary. Always struggle to explain this coherently…. Doing it is best way to understand. [email protected] for upcoming F2F workshops in Staffordshire. March and May.

The Connell suture, named after American surgeon Gregory Connell (1875-1968). When doing a hand sewn side to side anastomosis this technique allows you to turn the corner very neatly. Often used with Lembert stitch for second layer. More to follow. #SurgEd

The Babcock atraumatic forceps were designed by William Wayne Babcock (1872-1963) who was, firstly chairman of surgery then head of department and professor of surgery at Temple Medical College, Philadelphia.
