One of the most enjoyable things about coaching is seeing young men improve.
These guys have maximized their opportunities at HCU. Some of them have more than tripled their averages and production from their previous Division I.
Reasons to hire an athlete:
•They are used to working under pressure
•They understand that doing work outside of working hours is where they’ll find their advantage
•They’ve endured success & defeat; they handle adversity
•They sacrifice personal accolades for team success
High school sports are incredible. You get to play in front of your family, community members, and the friends you grew up with. School pride and your community shines during pep rallies, homecoming, on game nights & beyond. Soak it all in as it will be over before you know it.
“FL Gulf Coast’s admissions applications increased 27.5% after their Sweet 16 run. Butler’s increased 50% after two Final 4’s. George Mason’s inquiries went up 350% after beating Villanova in 2011. Athletics fills beds & builds new buildings. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.”
Student-athletes: In the future there won’t be anymore team meals. There won’t be anymore practices, anymore games. There won’t be anymore team road trips & hotel stays. Being an athlete only lasts a short time. Work hard every day, soak it all in & appreciate how awesome it is.
Student-athletes: Say “thank you” constantly. Thank bus drivers, food service workers, administrators, your parents, teachers, etc. You’ve worked hard but it has also taken the effort of an entire village to help get you where you are. Don’t be entitled. Instead, be grateful.

BREAKING NEWS: Having a great career at the D2, D3, NAIA and NJCAA levels is usually more rewarding than having a below average experience at an NCAA D1 school. Don’t sacrifice being a key contributor just to have a D1 sweatsuit after a career on scout team.

Upper Classmen: The impact you make on your program goes beyond this year’s wins and losses. 10-year old kids are watching you & emulating you. Freshman & Sophomores are learning how to practice/compete daily by you. You are changing the future for better or worse. Leave a legacy

Successful high school athletics change a community. Go to a state tournament and watch the community close down their town to come support. It’s more than just the student-athletes too. The band, cheerleaders, alum, parents, grandparents are all greatly impacted. It is SPECIAL!
