Schools are for the most part being run by folks who would not dress out for P.E.

High school recruits. Do not be "above" any school that comes to visit with you. Treat people right. That coach may end at a school you are interested in next month or have a friend on that staff. Coaches talk and rude behavior always catches up with you.

All 4 Heisman finalists are Christians and their fathers are actively involved in their lives. ✝️

Teach your offense to appreciate 4 yards. Don’t fall in love with easy yards and easy points against inferior opponents. It is an illusion that creates a false sense of confidence that will bite you in a big game.

I spent 26 years as a high school head coach. Never had a player“move in” only once had a true feeder program.Watched other programs take off by needing to list their players by position ht wt and hometown. Here’s to the guys who just coach their guys! You are the cornerstone!

One of the errors 1st time head coaches make is thinking everybody is rooting for them. Trust me, the day you are hired someone is already working against you. Had to learn this the hard way. You will not win enough games to win them over. They will always find something wrong.

So you want to be a Head Coach? There is much more distance from one side of that desk to the other than it looks.

When firing a coach especially in high school the plan should be to hire someone better. Not change for the sake of change. At what point in time are administrators held accountable for the lack of progress in their athletic programs? (Rhetorical question) Coaches know the answer.

Offensive line play continues to decline. 1. Fewer coaches wanting to truly excel in this area 2. Play callers put them in difficult spots 3. Teams lack of commitment to being physical 4. Forgetting the value of 4 yards 5. QB country >OL country

Every High school program I took over had a rivalry game where we were the little brother.(less than 33% wins against them.) The 1st step we took was to quit obsessing over them. Worry about us. They were living rent free in everyones heads. We finished 13-12 in those games.

Tulane 8-1 has 19 players who are college graduates and 15 more who will graduate in December. Willie Fritz has always done it right.

Head coaches. Consider your assistant coaches families. Manage their time wisely. Let them or make them go home to their families. Being a husband and father far outweighs being a coach.

In January 2007 this young coach came to @TheDWarriors to visit a prospect. It was 8am on Monday after his press conference. We were the first school he visited. Our daughter Rebekah met him in the parking lot and escorted him in. He sat in my office and we had a great visit. We
