    Monday was the 60th anniversary of the sudden deaths of more than 2000 peopleβ€”including 11 members of my family β€” in northern Italy. A rockslide caused a tsunami over a tall hydro electric dam. I went to Italy ten years ago and shared the personal story.

    Police surrounded the protesters front and back. Large police armoured personnel carrier has been brought up in the distance. Snipers on the roof of customs building.

    Just got a taste of how Canadians are often regarded here in the Netherlands. Went to pay for a couple of drinks at a patio after sitting for 2.5 hours enjoying the sun. The young waiter wouldn’t take money. I insisted. He refused. I never mentioned I was Canadian. He knew. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
