Realise the world's on fire and everyone's partying, so that feels like the perfect time to mention my new play Too Much Pills and Liquor is setting up camp at The Divine over Pride - a play about why gay men party when the world's on fire. Tickets here:

Not only is this staggeringly cruel, based in flawed research when better research exists, and the sort of queer betrayal that makes every bone in my body ache... But the man's been in power for eight days and this is what he kicks off with? Evil.

🚨 BREAKING: Health Secretary Wes Streeting has said he intends to ban puberty blockers for trans children. Jo Maugham, Director of the Good Law Project, reported today that "subject to the outcome of the court proceedings and consultation" Streeting will ban puberty blockers.

Seeing JK Rowling's entirely misinformed, factually inaccurate attempt to justify her own transphobia praised on the BBC and justified with a quote by *checks notes* Enoch Powell is an impressive attempt to make me give up on journalism entirely

I'm sure lots of people received their responses today from the BBC's complaints team about that deeply anti-trans piece. While I fiercely rail against what the piece said on a personal level, there are some basic journalistic points that I feel this response glosses over.

Hello! We're currently in a rare moment of having some freedom to look for new freelance writers at GQ. I've always been keen on developing a more representative pool of writers, and at the moment I'd love to hear more from black writers and writers of colour.

Our #GQawards solo artist of the year is @ShawnMendes. I had the utter pleasure of sitting down with him a while back to talk about his new album, and we ended up chatting about perfectionism, vulnerability, love and laundry. Really loved this one.

Props to Sky News for having two black female broadcasters host together, which I don't think I've seen anywhere else on UK news

We had this argument a few times at GQ, and I do think it's a generational one: the idea that standing up for a group's views is seen as 'activism' when, actually, it is just the ability to read a situation. Not every subject needs neutrality. Some need empathy.

The use of the word 'impartiality' here really worries me. 'Impartiality', ironically, is not a neutral term. 'Impartiality' suggests we not indicate an ability that journalists have - as the first drafters of history - to predict where a conversation is headed.

Saying that racism, or transphobia, is a legitimate problem is about as radical as saying that climate change is real. Yet the BBC have apologised for previously providing climate change deniers with an equal platform to scientists.
