The Draft Disability Strategy is woefully inadequate. Executive Ministers must work with Deaf and Disabled people to create a strategy that will truly improve our lives. Sign and share: cutt.ly/Wtme6wqP

    Replying to @ashcowburn and @McKeeverGrainne
It will cause pain is very much an understatement. It will cause destitution and death. Time the media called this out.

#WelfareNotWarfare These figures by @carlalockhart are wrong, the @DWPgovuk's own fraud statistics shows PIP fraud at 0.2%. This feeds into the wider rhetoric that PIPs is easy money. It creates a stigma towards disabled people in order to save money. This is dangerous.

👇🏽Myth busting about the rationale for these cuts is essential. Spending on benefits is not out of control. The welfare state is not collapsing. @UKLabour has chosen to target disabled people to make savings knowing it will drive many into poverty and destitution. Shameful

Ahead of Liz Kendall’s speech today – a quick thread on why the welfare state isn’t collapsing and why deep cuts to disability benefits aren’t the answer. (1/9)
Our £5bn disability benefits cut will stop welfare state collapsing, says Kendall

Here's proof that when ministers say they had to cut disability benefits cos 'welfare spending' was spiralling out of control, they are lying. Even before the cuts, it was stable. It's an answer to a Q from LibDem @MartinWrigley by minister @stephenctimms: questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questi…
Table shows welfare spending as a percentage of GDP, both without the govt cuts announced last week, and with them. For welfare spending without the govt cuts, it shows: 10.9% in 2024-25, 10.9% in 2025-26, 11% in 2026-27, 10.9% in 2027-28, 10.8% in 2028-29 and 10.9% in 2029-30. With the cuts, it shows 10.9% in 2024-25, 10.9% in 2025-26, 11% in 2026-27, 10.8% in 2027-28, 10.7% in 2028-29, and 10.8% in 2029-30.

Less than 200 signatures to go until we hit the first target of 10,000 signatures which triggers a governmental response. This is just the beginning of the fightback to protect #DisabilityBenefits from cuts. We need to keep going #DisabilityRebellion petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7215…
