Just because I work in the media it doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge the concern about Bukayo Saka being used as the face of England’s defeat and poor performance - despite other players performing worse - across a number of platforms last night. If anything it is even more my

Gary Lineker, one of the best broadcasters of his generation and a defender of basic humanity, has been surrendered by the BBC for having an opinion. How sad is that?

Loving Gareth Southgate calling out the racist abuse and sending out a strong message: “There’s no doubt in my mind that it happened and it will be reported officially. I don’t want to speculate but I know what I heard.” No sitting on the fence as some managers would have done.

I’ve been uncomfortable for a while now about Braverman’s hate being regularly on tv, knowing the impact it will have on lives & communities around the country. A “hurricane of immigration” is the kind of thing the National Front would say about my parents generation in the 70s.

A banana thrown onto the pitch at Richarlison? In 2022? Where is the vitriol we had when he did kick-ups in a Premier League game? The complacency over racism in football is returning.

One last thing. I'm a journalist but I'm not a stenographer. When I hear repugnant language like Braverman's today, I'm saying something. I'm proud to work for a media outlet where I can because we need an urgent conversation about how much of this xenophobia we can take. Don't

Yes. Yes. Yes. AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan walks off after racist abuse from opposition fans at Udinese. Team follows. Good. Not here for that any more. The players mean more than the game.

The lunacy of where we are as Black and Brown journalists in our media landscape. Having to apologise for calling out racism by a well-documented racist platformed by our national broadcaster. The bile meets their editorial standards but her pushing back doesn’t. Disgusting.
