    Michael wasn’t just a rock solid friend, he was an incredibly generous human to everyone he worked with. He basically invented a genre of science broadcasting: experimenting on himself, talking about his medical problems, being a curious human being not an ivory tower expert. 🧡

    BBC Radio 4 News this morning referred to β€œviolence because of the death of a black man”. Why not say β€œprotests because of the killing of George Floyd by police”. This was confirmed at autopsy and is not in dispute.

    This is not an important study. Neither its findings nor its methods are clear. It is flawed to the point where it has no use. I’m sympathetic to David Davis not understanding cluster randomisation, bias in trials, t-tests and Kaplan Meier analyses, but...

    This is a very important study on vitamin D and Covid-19. Its findings are incredibly clear. An 80% reduction in need for ICU and a 60% reduction in deaths, simply by giving a very cheap and very safe therapy - calcifediol, or activated vitamin D. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

    This morning the nearest walk-through COVID test site to my home in Hackney is...7.5 miles away in Chelsea. A lack of testing was understandable in March but in 2021, as a new highly transmissible variant emerges, it is almost impossible to believe this is where we are.
