The bivalent COVID-19 vaccines have been associated with a significant reduction in hospitalization and death in all populations examined, which is clinically meaningful. See this page on COVID-19 hospitalizations from @CDCgov. gis.cdc.gov/grasp/covidnet…

The Covid bivalent vaccine booster works better than expected. I've reviewed the cumulative data erictopol.substack.com/p/the-bivalent… That's in contrast to a @NEJM essay today and 2 lab studies that used a pseudovirus assay without assessing the XBB variants

We are facing extraordinary headwinds in our public health with a major decline in life expectancy. The major decline in the U.S. is not just a trend. I’d describe it as catastrophic.

It is my great honor to have the opportunity to return to the FDA in the position of Commissioner. I thank @POTUS for having the confidence to nominate me to lead this essential agency at such a critical time. And I want to thank the Senate for confirming me.

The updated COVID-19 vaccines have become available over the past few days. I rolled up my sleeve to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine and I am encouraging my family and friends to do the same. Here’s why you should also consider doing so: ⬇️⬇️⬇️

So, let's clarify something about the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. They are not made using fetal tissue. The COVID-19 mRNA vaccines do, however, lower the risk of serious disease and hospitalization and will help ensure we have a more enjoyable summer. #getvaccinated #getboosted

I’ve had a good recovery from my first bout with Covid. Now testing negative 3 days in a row and feeling good. 👍👍

These are troubling times. The kind of divisive and hateful language that we’ve seen on Twitter in recent days is alarming. It’s entirely unacceptable, and I fear for the health of our fellow citizens targeted by these attacks. KEEP READING… ⬇️⬇️

Safely spending time with loved ones this holiday season means remaining current on #COVID19 vaccinations and boosters. Yesterday, I received the updated #COVID19 bivalent booster, which is targeted to the currently circulating variant.

As we enter the fall, the FDA has been preparing for how best to protect the public from ongoing and potential future surges of COVID-19. Both Moderna and Pfizer have announced submission of EUA requests for their omicron BA.4/BA.5-modified bivalent COVID-19 boosters.

I’m concerned that the discussions about “Paxlovid rebound” are distracting us from the basis for the Emergency Use Authorization, or EUA: a substantial reduction in death and hospitalization for high-risk patients.

It’s a new year, but misinformation/disinformation is still prevalent. After reading this editorial, I think we should talk about XBB and the COVID-19 vaccines. Thread… 🧵

FDA is working closely w/ our federal government partners to safely bring as much infant formula to US shelves as quickly as possible. This is a top priority for FDA. Our team will continue working around the clock to resolve the current supply challenges as quickly as possible.

    Replying to @DrCaliff_FDA
JAMA Internal Medicine published earlier this month that our overall life expectancy has dropped to 76 years, and remarkably, that male life expectancy in the U.S. has dropped to 73 years.

Good news about vaccinated children for Covid-19.  Children who are vaccinated have a substantially lower rate of Long Covid compared with unvaccinated children. 🔗👇
