    When a postpartum woman presents to the ED with dyspnea and an abnormal CXR, it's #heartfailure until proven otherwise, #preeclampsia until proven otherwise. 1. Consult OB 2. Do not send home 3. BP >160/110 is a life threatening emergency #cardioobstetrics

    You have absolutely got to be kidding me @anish_koka. Female cardiologists are working their tails off for less pay, fewer grants, less recognition, only TWO of the top 50 NIH funded programs w female cardiology chiefs. And it isn’t because we’re less qualified.

    As a fellow I decided I wanted to take care of pregnant people with ❤️disease. Many said “there is no career in that.” In our inaugural year at the @VUMChealth WHC, we provided cv care to 262 new patients over 588 visits. Dare to be different. #innovate #cardioobstetrics

    In her last pregnancy, she suffered cardiac arrest and required ECMO support. She became one of my favorite patients and a fierce advocate for maternal health. Today she welcomed a healthy baby boy into their family. My heart is full. #cardioobstetrics *posted w pt permission

    My dad has practiced rural medicine for 40 years. He was elected Master of the ACP several years ago, acknowledging his exceptional commitment to patient care and learning. Yesterday he was awarded a lifetime achievement award. I am proud of him. #commitment #disparities

    Today is an exception to my “only professional twitter posts” policy. I married this guy when I was in college. Many said we were too young. Many suspected I would drop out of school. Today is our 20TH ANNIVERSARY and we’re more ready than ever for our next adventure. 😍
