It's not much to ask for. I want solid healthcare, some nice roads and infrastructure, world class education, good social services, and a safety net for those less fortunate. You know, all the stuff that we pay taxes for. Not subsidies and tax breaks for the rich.

Just saw somebody try to argue that minimum wage isn't supposed to be a living wage. That their small business can't afford to pay a living wage. If the only way your business can exist is the exploitation of labor (aka peoples actual lives), then your business should not exist.

It's baffling to me that school meals aren't free. Kids raising money to pay off "lunch debt"! How could you possibly think that is OK? Every child should receive free healthy meals from their school. I will gladly pay my taxes to make that happen. There is no better investment.

No, both sides are not the same. One wants a theocracy with unfettered capitalism and oligarchs at the helm The other wants billionaires to pay a bit more in taxes so we can afford healthcare for everyone.

I don’t think older generations understand $15 to $20 an hour just isn't enough. People aren't lazy. People want to work and provide for their families. It’s just tough to find motivation when what you are earning barely (or doesn't at all) cover your day to day expenses.

Folks can make 10s or even 100s of thousands in rent payments on time, no issues. And then be told they can't qualify for a mortgage with a LOWER monthly payment. The system is rigged. It's predatory. And it needs to change.

Luck is such a huge element of success that so many people who have "made it" ignore. Hard work is important but being born in a certain place or time, the right mentors, etc. It adds up. We should be lifting up those who haven’t had much luck... rather than putting them down.

There is a shocking disconnect between the knowledge that so many of our people are barely surviving paycheck to paycheck and the anger that arises from asking the wealthy and corporations to pay reasonable taxes so we can help lift folks out of poverty and invest in our future.

We ask 18yo kids to sign up for a massive financial commitment with student loans. They end up trapped in debt with absurd interest rates. And. We. Do. Nothing. Keep the poor/middle class "right where they belong" and limiting upward mobility. It's oppression plain and simple.

It's crazy that a struggling single mother getting assistance can be billed as getting a dirty nasty "handout", that she is lazy and needs to get a job. But the same thing given to a corporation? Oh that's just a positive subsidy! That make sense to you?

"Minimum wage is meant as a starter not to live off" Yea that's complete BS. It was established and meant to be a wage that someone can afford basic housing, food, and medicine. You know... to live.

A 6 year old child brought a gun to school and shot a teacher. It’s the guns. We have a problem with guns. Not video games. We don’t need bullet proof backpacks. We don’t need better doors. We need to do something about the guns.

I love my country, but man sometimes it feels like it’s rotting from the inside out. In response to yet another shooting Fox News suggests ballistic blankets and fortifying schools. Yea, because every other country that doesn’t have this issue has those two things. Brilliant.

To be clear... I'm all for small business (an owner myself) but to think that someone should have to live in poverty so that your business can exist is... damn... I don't even have words for it.
