Representatives from countries participating in the Joint Procurement Agreement (JPA) met this week to exchange experiences and discuss ongoing work. The workshop brought together 45 participants from 25 countries, including Ukraine, the newest country to join the JPA.

At the Employment, Social Policy, Health & Consumer Affairs Council, I met with Health Ministers from 🇩🇪🇮🇹🇳🇱🇬🇷 🇧🇪🇨🇾 to discuss the #Ebola outbreak. We agreed on the need for close coordination and a common measures, based on science, evidence and risk assessment.

From bilateral meetings to discussions at #EPSCO, Commissioner @hadjalahbib engaged with Health Ministers on the response to the #Ebola outbreak and support for affected communities and frontline responders. The EU has recently mobilised €16.5M to help contain the outbreak.

#Preparedness and response go hand in hand. DG HERA is supporting the #Ebola response through diagnostics, laboratory capacity, pathogen genomics, medical countermeasures and vaccine research, working closely with @WHO, @AfricaCDC, @CEPIvaccines and other partners.

Last week, I traveled to Bunia 🇨🇩. I co-chaired a meeting with @WHO @AfricaCDC, ministers & partners to work on the response to end Ebola. Armed conflict is fueling a public health emergency. Ceasefire, humanitarian corridors & coordination are the answers.

#Dengue is no longer confined to tropical regions🌴. Rising temperatures, biodiversity loss, urbanisation and mobility are📈the risk of dengue transmission in 🇪🇺. We are investing in surveillance, vector control and the development of new therapeutics to strengthen preparedness.

Recent Ebola and hantavirus outbreaks have highlighted the importance of preparedness. On 10 July, Commissioner @hadjalahbib will host an Implementation Dialogue on preparing the #EU for the next health crisis, focusing on medical countermeasures.
