Frogs across Ireland are emerging from hibernation and migrating to various breeding sites. The males arrive first and croak loudly & consistently to attract females. There will be a lot of frogs on the road making this perilous journey. Please be careful to not injure them! 🐸

Irish waters are being damaged by nitrogen from fertilisers & manures, and phosphorus from agricultural runoff & wastewater discharges. These cause an overgrowth of plants & algae, clogging up our waters and using up oxygen which harms fish & aquatic life: bit.ly/3oVYe8P

    1. There was no real improvement in the quality of Irish rivers or lakes in 2022. High levels of nitrogen and phosphorus (mostly from agriculture and wastewater) are damaging Irish waters. Read EPA’s latest Water Quality Report here: bit.ly/3oVYe8P #water #waterquality

🤢🤢🤢 alert!! Here are wet wipes & other waste material removed at an @irishwater waste water treatment plant. Remember the golden rule: You should only ever flush the Three Ps (Pee, Poo & Paper). Think before you flush! #thinkb4uflush #threePs #EPAoee

We are truly spoilt for choice in June for food that’s in season and, as such, at its freshest and tastiest! 🍓 Salad is the second most wasted food in Ireland (after bread), so just serve what you’ll eat and #stopfoodwaste. #MealPrep #InSeason

The EPA successfully prosecuted an individual for the unauthorised industrial extraction of peat in an area greater than 50 hectares. The EPA will take legal action against anyone carrying out industrial extraction of peat without an EPA licence.🔗 bit.ly/40saA6j

1/3 EPA has identified agricultural practices as one of the main pressures responsible for the decline in water quality nationally. The agriculture sector is also responsible for approx. 33% of national greenhouse gas emissions & over 99% of national ammonia emissions. #EarthDay

Our latest State of the Environment report shows that the outlook for Ireland’s environment is not optimistic unless we accelerate the implementation of solutions across all sectors and society. Read the full report here: bit.ly/33e5zCr #SOER2020 #environment #Ireland

Climate Change’s Four Irelands are: The Doubtful aren't sure it's happening, The Cautious don't think it'll directly affect them, The Concerned see it as a serious issue, not an immediate threat & The Alarmed see #climatechange as a real & immediate threat bit.ly/3OgVvin
