Twenty two years ago I graduated from Queens with a degree in English, today I graduated with a degree in Irish. I’m a bit oder, a bit wiser but still thrilled to be experiencing @qub at its best.

- No child of mine will give their life or take the life of someone else’s child to fight for anyone’s cause. Those days are over, it is our responsibility to ensure that they don’t return. Violence isn’t a solution and it never was.Horrifying to think that 'Hazel Officer' is a likely a mother and a grandmother. What chance does Northern Ireland have while sickening attitudes like hers exist? Who is this "other side" she refers to? I hope progressive unionist voices condemn this sort of incendiary language
00:00 - Over the moon! Got an A in my A-Level Irish. 7 years ago I hadn’t a focal and struggled with Cad é mar atá tú. #Gaeilge
- Jim Wells said Irish has no words for United Kingdom, queen or Northern Ireland. I was taught these words & phrases in a language class on the Falls Rd. For Jim's info here they are. UK - An Ríocht Aontaithe, Queen - Banríon, Northern Ireland - Tuaisceart Éireann #keepitreal
- I was shocked and delighted to receive an email from @QUBelfast informing me that I had achieved the best academic performance in my year in Irish. A great encouragement as I prepare for Year 3 in September.
- Brian and I driving through Wales and I’m loving all the bilingual signage. Haven’t noticed any hollowing out of my Britishness so far.
- John Hume, a man who despite being criticised and attacked for doing the right thing, continued to do it. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
- It’s been a good year with some of our learners obtaining great results at uni & plans for an integrated Irish-medium nursery school progressing. We’ve shown that Protestants learn Irish, speak Irish, teach Irish, do degrees in Irish; but still don’t know any who fly helicopters.
- I remember when I was a child being told by other children, Don’t play with him because he’s a fenian. That was the early 70s. This is 2025 and I’m not going to be told who I can or can’t be friendly with. There’s a block button on X for a reason.
- My Granda laying the wreath at the cenotaph. He was a left wing atheist who served during WW2 in Burma, a shop steward in Shorts, a man who fought for workers’ rights and who hated sectarianism. I’m proud to be his granddaughter. ❤️
- Very excited to accept an offer to study Irish at QUB. I first went to Queens in 1999. Never imagined I’d be back to do a degree in Irish.
- I find it interesting that one of the accusations made against me, without any evidence of course, is that I’m making lots of money. I work for EBM and earn a salary, I have no other means of income and my role with GAA club is voluntary. Stop spreading lies and misinformation.
- “Nationalists who claim the Irish language as their own property, have no right to do so and unionists who label Irish as a foreign language, don’t know their own history.” Rev. Jim Stothers, Deputy Clerk of the Presbyterian Church - Presbyterians and the Irish Language
- Today an integrated primary school has had to close because of a security alert which appears to have targeted a cross community GAA club. Lots of people working hard to move forward but being held back by a small minority who want to return to the Northern Ireland of the 1970s.
