    Hey friends, have some personal news. First, the good news: As of today, 18 months sober. The bad news: In February I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. There is a small spread but I am responding well to hormonal therapy. And began my 6 weeks of radiation Monday. Fuck Cancer.

    Some news, my friends: This is my last week as a Royals beatwriter. Been an incredible ride over the decades covering this team, but I’m taking early retirement. Simply time to get out of the trenches. Thanks so much for following, reading. You're the best! Cheers, everyone!

    There's talk around baseball that once the 5-round MLB Draft is over, the Royals are in prime position to attract/sign top non-drafted players because of their decision not to cut Minor Leaguers or salaries. One agent told me: "KC knows how to treat players. They do it right."

    Per source, Alex Gordon and the Royals have agreed on a one-year deal for $4 million for 2020. Gordo is back.

    Well, another Royals season is about to go in the books. Hey, I just want to thank all of you for following me again this year. It was a weird season but thankfully we got some baseball in 2020. I sure hope I'm in Surprise next February. Cheers, everyone.
