00:00 - I have some very exciting professional news to share — Wednesday was my last day with the New York Post after nearly nine years with the paper but before I left, I had to finish one last story that was published this morning. Take a read here:
- NEW: I obtained images of the Otis Bantum Correctional Center on Rikers Island that show the dire, crowded conditions that plagued the intake unit for months. Detainees were crammed body to body for days, or even weeks, in violation of city regulations..
- Writing this story truly scared the sh-t out of me.
- ICYMI: Our “special report” on the crisis at the NYPD ran in print today — all 85 inches of it. I am stunned. Incredibly proud of how this story turned out and thankful to have worked with some of the best in the biz on it, @TinaMoorereport and @createcraig. Give it a read!!
- Replying to @FonrougeGabFor years, I have been tracking city employees who were arrested between 2017-2021 and learned at least 16 NYPD officers accused of fireable offenses were allowed to keep their jobs, even after an internal department trial judge found them guilty of the conduct.
