i need every single one of you who thinks “abolish the police” is extreme to watch this. at 1 point there was like 8 people kneeling on top of this man even after his feet were bound. they were trying to kill him and were totally undeterred by the fact that they were being filmed

good thing they forced restaurants to tear down all those outdoor dining areas in order to cede the space to cars. brilliant move there.

There are blocks of lower Manhattan that are so devoid of cars now it’s wild.

as a bleeding heart progressive democrat i believe in fairness and equity above all else, that’s why i am casting all my fake ballots for donald trump, that way he can lose without feeling like he was an underdog

probably news to you, but enclosed spaces can be shield from cold and wind and not all days of the year are too cold for comfortable outdoor dining

to everyone asking. I do not know how, only that it is a primary residence in Kentucky and the homestead protections there are maybe pretty good? who knows really.

i like the concept of charging for the space, but i don’t like auctions because they have tons of potential for abuse in these situations (mostly for use in punitive or extorting ways against businesses that dont win the space in front of their storefront).

cars do not eat meals, and neither do people transiting through a space. cars just spew pollution and noise that makes it unpleasant for people to eat meals outdoors. less cars lead to more customers

It’s funny that college kids think fintwit is a bunch of big-shot hedge fund managers when it’s like a scattering of back-office drones, degenerate gambler traders, stay-at-home-dads, work-from-home dads, 60/40 RIAs, and the odd PM/analyst that has a straight-jacket for a mandate

I don't know who needs to hear this but the "max pain" scenario is not a plunge down or a spike up, it's a long, slow, and choppy drawdown, on where rebalancing worsens performance and option-based hedges pay out small and get more expensive way before we ever hit the bottom

this kid was terrified in his car not wanting to come out of it (the car was stuck in some rural road) and the cops went over to him and killed him for no reason. they broke his windows, shot him with beanbags, tased him, and shot him until he was dead. cpr.org/2022/09/13/cle…

step 1, assume commons you can exploit (the “woods” providing forage for pigs and branches) step 2, assume no storage or processing of produced foodstuffs step 3, assume demand for all your perishables at the time of harvest for full quantity offered step 4, (assumed) profit!
