Before I leave (and will miss) Israel it was good to speak to Nachum Barnea about some of the key issues in my four years here: from Oct 7th and the hostages to the war and misery in Gaza, and how Germany and Europe view the situation in the West Bank. Thank you @YediotAhronot.
We at the German Embassy have long admired the work of @givathaviva. Now we can proudly say that they are our partners and we support one of their important education projects for a shared society. Thank you Adi Oren and Mohammed Darawshe.
“Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon. We stand ready to work with the US, Iran and the IAEA to this end.”
🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 welcome the MoU between USA and Iran. We urge to seize the moment to achieve a long-term settlement and will play our part.
This moving farewell is very important to me: after Oct 7 we at the embassy became very close with the German hostage families. Since then we shared their pain and their relief. I have admired their strength throughout and I wish them the best from the bottom of my heart.
As CEO of Physicians for Human Rights Guy Shalev has done much to make them such a trusted partner of our embassy. We thank him from the heart and wish his successor Tirza Leibowitz all the best. You are true humanitarians and we are proud to support you. @P4HR
Today, we returned to Khan al-Ahmar. The E1 project puts this historic Bedouin village at immediate risk of demolition —a direct violation of intl. law that undermines any chance for peace. We remain resolute in our opposition to these evictions and all settlement expansion.
E1 is illegal under international law and undermines any chance for peace. In Khan al Ahmar, communities face an imminent threat of demolition and displacement. We oppose any evictions and stand firmly against settlement expansion.
Shocked and saddened by the terror attack in and around Kochav Yair in central Israel this Sunday morning. My heart goes out to the family of the man who died of gunshot wounds, and to the injured persons. I hope they will recover in full.
It‘s goodbye to the Shvil. Thank you, Daniel Hagari, for being a great hiking partner on this final mikta through the majestic Arava landscape near the Amram Columns.
Good news that @ICRC can resume visits of prisoners and detainees after Israeli High Court ruling. ICRC with all its experience and expertise is best placed to assess detention conditions and advise governments on it.
What a lively meeting it was with students at Brenner School in Petah Tikva today. They had questions about diplomacy in practice, anti-semitism, the future of German-Israeli relations - and football.
Thank you guys, may you all grow up into an era of peace.
🇩🇪 Foreign Office: „Israel has legitimate security interests..Hezbollah‘s continued attacks must finally stop..Yet when civilians pay the price of military escalation and parts of Lebanon become uninhabitable this will not make Israel‘s environment more secure in the long term“.
#Lebanon: All parties to the conflict have been urgently called upon to cease all hostilities and return to the ceasefire that has been agreed upon. Any further escalation will exacerbate the already tense situation. – Full statement by @AussenMinDE 👇 diplo.de/2773682
.@yadvashem will open its first education centre outside Israel in Germany. Today they announced that it will be in Munich. What an opportunity (and responsibility) to take Holocaust education and remembrance into the future. Thank you, Yad Vashem, for the trust you put in us.
