Children have a legal right to be supported by both parents. But 100,000+ children aren't receiving a penny of the maintenance they're legally entitled to. That's why we're supporting a legal case against @DWP over child maintenance enforcement. gingerbread.org.uk/FixTheCMS #FixTheCMS

We want to be clear - we support changes to the system that benefit single parents, but this statement does not paint the full picture. We are not complacent and are clear these changes do not do enough to make the system work for single parents.

We're consistent in our view that Universal Credit as it stands is not working for single parents. There are clear ways it can be improved which we will continue to campaign for, to make sure the voices of single parent families are heard by Government. gingerbread.org.uk/policy-campaig…

Research by @resfoundation shows that a single parent on UC working 3 days/week, 8hrs/day on £10/hour (so above National Minimum & Living Wages) would need to work a further 8 hrs/week just to stand still - and that is assuming they have no childcare costs #keepthelifeline
"£20 a week is about two hours extra work every week, we will be seeing what we can do help people perhaps secure those extra hours” On #BBCBreakfast Work and Pension Secretary Thérèse Coffey says the increase to universal credit was always temporary. bbc.in/3k2swRY

We're thrilled to hear that a group of single mums have successfully challenged the government's method of calculating Universal Credit payments, which left them out of pocket and with inconsistent income. What a brilliant result for single parents 🎉
