🚨BACKUP GOALIES🚨
Most goalies in high school or college right now are backups. That is reality.
The key to backing up is to tow the line between ‘Supportive’ and ‘Competitive’
Be a good teammate and never complain, but maintain your edge.
Don’t let yourself get complacent.

- Shot clocks are getting shorter and transition is becoming exponentially more valuable at every level More and more coaches are deciding their starter based on clearing ability The game is changing, and If you don’t adapt and improve your stick, the game may leave you behind.
- Over the years we've had a large number of requests from coaches & goalies to break down our methods and drills on film. We beyond are excited to announce the launch of a 4-part series where we do just that - drills, techniques and how to coach your goalie. Part 1 drops tomorrow:
00:00 - Recruits: Always remember your target audience… recruiting videos aren’t for your buddies, they’re for coaches. Use music your dad would like, not music your buddies would like. In short: Led Zeppelin ✅ Yung Gravy❌I think I have used the mute button on more highlight reels than ever this year. Things have reached that point.
- The Playoffs are near and a hot goalie can be your ticket to a title game. A few thoughts to get your mind right and ready for it: 1- Forget perfection and ideal technique, it doesn’t win championships. Be raw. What you have now is what you’ve got, trust it (continued)
- Jack was doubted, overlooked, and watched others in his class commit way ahead of him. Instead of giving up, he worked harder than every player on earth and stuck with the process. His work ethic is infectious to those he trains with. Cheers to @Jackwebb2021, today is your day 🤝Jack Webb '21, G, Loyola Blakefield (Md.) / @FCA_MD_Lax has committed to @JHUmenslacrosse. A workhorse of a late bloomer, Webb has had a number of big-time performances at @GoaliesmithLax sessions and recent tournaments: insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/pro…
- 20 of the Men’s D1 committed 2022 goalies have been to a minimum of 5 Goaliesmith sessions
- Lots of discussion lately on “High Arcs” It’s important to understand that top goalies don’t actually play the “high arc” full time They play on a standard arc then hop forward and reset to a “high arc” in specific situations See clips below of @DillWard37 “resetting” his arc
00:00 - A true testament to the hard work and dedication @drakeporter33 has put into his craft. The Goaliesmith team couldn’t be more proud to employ the newest member of the @PLLCannonsThe wait is over: Drake Porter is headed to @PremierLacrosse, as the @PLLCannons added former Syracuse goalie Drake Porter from the player pool.
- 🚨Uncommitted 2023s🚨 It’s easy to blame coaches or scouts for not giving you a look. It’s hard to look inward and find areas of your game to improve. Great goalies are willing to soak the ego check and continue to improve. The only person who can get you recruited is you.
- Replying to @GoaliesmithLax4- Take a look around at one point during the game and enjoy it. You’re lucky to be a part of a team and this community that gets to play this incredible game. Enjoy it. Your save percentage has nothing to do with that
- Unfortunately goalies in the 2026 recruiting class are the first to feel the effects of the new NCAA roster & scholarship changes. Due to roster size caps, goalie has been a position getting nixed with FIVE top 25 D1 schools opting out on taking a goalie in the 26 class.
- Consistent peak-performance is the goal. The pressure we put on ourselves to do so is usually what stands in the way. Michael Phelps played Guitar Hero. For Michael Jordan it was Golf. For Serena Williams, Gymnastics. Seek balance in life and you’ll find your fire in the goal 🔥
