One helluva lede: In his first interview as a senator-elect, Tommy Tuberville misidentified the 3 branches of government, claimed erroneously that WW2 was a battle against socialism and wrongly asserted that Al Gore was president-elect for 30 days.
“Our government wasn’t set up for one group to have all three branches of government — wasn’t set up that way,” said Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville, Republican of Alabama. “You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.”

Seb Gorka: “I’m not a Marine, but I know the Marines....Jim Mattis is no Marine.” @MarineCorpsU hired Gorka to teach Marine officers. Hope this article produces some soul searching.

The aftermath of impeachment: “Unfortunately, the impeachment will make the president hellbent on the destruction of the civil service if he wins a second term,” said one former White House. “It’s terrifying.”

The CIA analyst who triggered the inquiry still works on Russia and Ukraine issues, but when threats against him spike — often seemingly spurred by presidential tweets — he is driven to and from work by armed security officers.

This is crazytown: Bolton asked for a copy of the agreement the US is trying to strike with the Taliban, but the request was denied. Instead he was told he could read it in the presence of a sr. official but not leave with it. via @John_Hudson @jdawsey1

Clint Lorance was pardoned by Trump and became a hero on Fox News. His troops suffered a very different fate. Today, they call themselves “the cursed platoon.” A team of us worked on this for many months. wapo.st/cursed-platoon…

Remember when we were earnestly told that electing veterans to Congress would help curb rabid partisanship? They'd put country over party. Rep. Michael Waltz and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (and their impressive service records) are making me seriously rethink that proposition.

“Now, in Biden, we finally have a president who won’t be cowed into inaction by the threat of political damage… Because he is unwilling to simply say “more,” he is being unfairly vilified.” Dan Berschinski eloquently lays out a view common to many vets.

What struck me most in spending time with @IlhanMN is her view of America. She sees the U.S. as the world often sees us, rather than how we see ourselves. It's a valuable, and at times infuriating, perspective.

This is the kind of rhetoric I came to expect from Sunnis and Shia in Iraq. Hearing it from @hughhewitt (whose radio show and columns I've enjoyed over the years) is shocking. This is wrong, reactionary and irresponsible.

Every Catholic, indeed every person of any faith, has to realize the left despises them and that the Democrats shelter this virulent bigotry and pretend it’s something else. Catholics should vote accordingly, whether or not a Democrat is Catholic. The left controls the party.

Howard Schultz always believed he was a good, compassionate CEO. Then his workers started to unionize. I spent three months on this profile. 🧵
