🆕Appendectomy does not need to be done overnight ‼️No difference between 24h and 8h time to surgery Now, we need OR systems with flexibility that do not force overnight work, for the benefit of patients & healthcare workers (the latter ultimately benefits even more patients

Our PERFECT trial finally out in @TheLancet ! Pragmatic Nordic 🇫🇮🇳🇴 multicenter RCT comparing appendectomy within 24h versus 8h. 1803 patients! No difference in rate of perforated appendicitis (9% vs 8%). 👉 Allows to postpone appendectomy to daytime. authors.elsevier.com/a/1hluDV-4XL3R-

‼️Surgeons, who can relate?! 💭What do you do to avoid this? Tell us👇🏻 Ergonomics principles mean fitting the environment to workers. The opposite happens most (too) often in surgery. @SocSurgOnc @SocSurgErgo @TaraCohenPhD @maggiedinomemd (via dr_gaboyan instagram)

About 14 days after many gathered & traveled for Mother’s Day - coincidence? Soon will see effect of Victoria Day long weekend & growing numbers hanging out in parks & other public spaces. Quarantine fatigue is real but the virus doesn’t get tired. Stay home.

More cases than at the peak of first wave. More deaths today. This was predictable. Yet no action. What’s it going to take @fordnation @celliottability? Enforce social measures - distancing, masking, no gatherings. Send clear messages. #COVID19Ontario #fail
