My son had #COVID19. Thankfully he recovered quickly. Today he was one of the first people @UChicagoMed to donate plasma so that other patients might benefit from his antibodies. I'm very proud of him and so grateful to my amazing colleagues here for all they are doing.

Even though I knew about salary inequity between women and men, when I became Chief of @UChicagoGI in 2014, I was still surprised to see it up close. It was one of the first things we fixed. Don't be surprised. It exists. Fix it. #InternationalWomensDay #DeedsNotWords

My son just called me to discuss his college econ homework on health insurance, deductibles, co-pays and “risk assessments”. After about 20 min, he declared that it is more complicated than multi-variable calculus and wondered how anyone can understand it. Yep.

Dear @AetnaHelp: Your policy that states that assessing infliximab levels in people losing response is experimental/investigational is not only medically incorrect, it is a failed attempt to blame me for ordering the test. I offer myself free of charge to educate you. DM me.

Devastating news today that #IBD legend Prof Paul Rutgeerts passed away. He was a giant and leader and the nicest gentleman in the truest sense. We owe him thanks for so much in our field including our approaches to post-op #Crohns, TDM, much more. RIP researchgate.net/scientific-con…

So meaningful that my son, who was one of the first with #COVID19 here and then donated his convalescent plasma, came with me this morning (at 6AM!) when I received the vaccine. We are getting there. Stay vigilant everyone. @UChicagoMed

I'm sincerely honored to lead and approach this position with the most serious of intent and urgency for all people living with #IBD. I'm also very proud to have recruited the most diverse NSAC cabinet in the history of the @CrohnsColitisFn. 💪Let's get to work! Lots to do!

My 21 year old son made this for me when he was 5. (But he didn't go into GI!). What I don't know is how he knew what a colonoscopy looked like!
