So truly honored and humbled to be named the inaugural Randall B. Griepp Professor in Cardiovascular Surgery today. Dr. Griepp was a true pioneer, a sublime surgeon and a passionate scientist. I hope to live up to his legacy. Congrats to my fellow awardees! @IcahnMountSinai

Yesterday we celebrated our 400th Ross procedure at the Montreal Heart Institute since 2011, making it one of the busiest programs worldwide. This wouldn't be possible without a terrific team of nurses, anesthesia, ICU etc.. Lucky to be a part of it! #RossProcedure @ICMtl @tssmn

Lucky are they who got to train under Prof or simply witness his magic. He made everything look so easy, elegant and effortless. He’d always say: “Truth is beautiful. If it looks pretty, it must work”. He was the ultimate Renaissance artist in an OR. #mentor #livinglegend #GOAT

Our Editorial in this week's @JACCJournals. The #Rossprocedure shows excellent results as a redo surgery in this study by @edwardburatto et al. "Reconstructive valve surgery with the patient's own living tissue continues to be an aspirational goal for all young patients".

Few people have contributed more to aortic valve repair than HJ Schäfers from Homburg. For anyone interested in learning the basics or for established surgeons, this video book offers the full range! Plenty of didactics & surgical videos. Well worth it! care-saar.com/c/produkte/aor…

Since #Covid19 hit NY, there’s been a huge ⬇️ in aortic dissections in all NYC hosp, while at-home deaths have ⬆️ ~10-fold: the unintended toll of the pandemic? Bottom line: there’s risk in avoiding risk by avoiding the ER if you have chest pain! @MountSinaiNYC @MountSinaiHeart

Another very important Ross study! Notably these data come from 10 centers and a larger # of surgeons. Dating back to ‘88, overall op mortality is 1% and late results are excellent! This is the accompanying editorial I wrote with C. Warnes and R. Nishimura from the Mayo Clinic

The one thing breaking the eerie silence of @newyorkcity these days is the loud 7pm cheers & honks for HCWs (as heard from my 37th floor!). Sure lifts our spirits! But let’s also spare a 🙏 for all the families praying from home for their ❤️ ones inside our hospitals #COVID19
