I think therapy would be a lot better for a lot of people if therapists were more comfortable telling people to get over themselves

I literally frustrated my therapist with this. Like, I'm not a pet, I can't trick myself. I can't get "a sweet treat" for finishing a task bc I have too much free will and I'm like "I can just do what I want and NOT do that thing"

A lot of neurodivergent ppl deal with varying levels of infantilization throughout their lives, and as such we have to spend a lot of time sort of “training” ourselves to avoid people’s immediate tone switch from peer to “Hey little buddy! Can you say your name?”
