Controversial, but I would support retiring the Lady Byng after 24-25 (its 100 year anniversary) and replacing it with a Gaudreau Award, voted by the NHLPA.
The Byng is not valued by players and it's a joke that it's voted by the media just looking at who doesn't take penalties.
I don’t love the Lady Byng Award, but it’s the only individual trophy Johnny Gaudreau has won in the NHL. Back in 2017.
Maybe it’s the emotion of it all, but I’d like to see this trophy named after him.
Wasn't really sure whether or not to post this but with so many stories about how hard Gaudreau worked to beat the odds and make it, I just wanted to emphasize just how incredible his career was. You're just not supposed to be able to dominate like this at his size.
With talk of expansion to 33 & 34 teams in the near future, it's reasonable to believe the NHL could eventually expand to 36 over the next 20 years.
Here is how that could happen:
- All teams relocate to Nova Scotia
- Expansion to Sheet Harbour, Sydney, Halifax, Musquodobit
