A beacon of calm and reason in Florida's political storm. President of the Florida Policy Project, a non-profit researching best practices #FloridaPolicyProject
Florida doesn’t need another press conference.
We need a governing agenda.
Here are 6 moves lawmakers can actually pass in 2026 that deliver results voters will feel.
The Florida Legislature has created a catastrophic situation and must urgently hold a special session, as @GovRonDeSantis recommended, to address this man-made crisis. Real estate experts warn of an unprecedented surge in Florida condo listings due to crippling special
Honestly, what did we expect? Who thought this was a good plan? How many people burned through 4 gallons of gas just to get 10, only to spend hours in line and end up with a net gain of 6? Can we bring in an economist—or at least consult one?
MASSIVE GAS LINE: Drivers flocked to a site in Bradenton after Gov. DeSantis announced the state would be distributing much-needed fuel after Hurricane Milton. DETAILS: bit.ly/4h64Fwi@WFLAJB
As the author of the bill implementing amend 4 it was our intent that those ineligible would be granted some grace by the state if they registered without intent to commit voter fraud. Some of the individuals did check with SOEs and believed they could register. #Intentmatters
In 2020, FL ran one of the most secure & transparent elections in the US, but we have more work to do. That's why I established an election crimes unit.
@fdlepio has charged 20 murderers & sex offenders who weren't eligible to vote w/ election fraud. They face 5 yrs in prison.
The approach of 'The beatings will continue until morale improves' is counterproductive. The more difficult it becomes for companies to leave, the greater their reluctance to invest more. Address the question of why are they leaving!
Florida’s Amendment 3 will still pass, but this is setting a dangerous precedent and is unlikely to be authorized in Florida’s budget. Expect lawsuits! Plus, $15 million could’ve fixed a lot of potholes.
Desperation is not a good look!
So…Ron DeSantis just ordered $15.5 million in taxpayer-funded advertising.
It comes as his administration campaigns against a referendum to repeal a statewide abortion ban – and amid rumors it may launch a public campaign against a referendum to legalize recreational marijuana.
The U.S. Constitution bars states from interfering with contracts. HOAs are contracts. Florida has urgent problems: insurance, housing, transportation. Hard to see why this is the fight worth picking.
For 4 years, I worked to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida through legislation, but no progress was made. Now, with Amendment 3, some argue it should be done by statute. However, like 23 other states, adding it to the constitution ensures the people's voice is heard
NEW: Fla. Sen. @JonMartinesq warns against passing Florida Amendment 3
“If this becomes part of the Florida constitution, the legislature can’t change certain aspects of this." flvoicenews.com/sen-martin-war…
In 2001, Florida's Panhandle was exempted from the state's strict hurricane building codes, allowing weaker wind resistance standards. After hurricanes like Ivan and Michael, the exemption was phased out to improve storm resilience. Post-Helene, it'll be intriguing to examine the
The @FLSecofState should be running all new voter registrations against a felon database and confirming they are eligible. Most of the individual are simply ignorant of the law and have no intent to commit voter fraud, they just want to start a new chapter of life. #intentmatters
Let’s run the math on “Alligator Alcatraz. The state says $450M to house 5,000 inmates, that’s $90K per inmate per year. In its current unfinished state, the cost is likely over $200K per detainee. For comparison: FL inmates cost ~$27K. Where’s DOGE?

Bold move by @GovRonDeSantis who just issued a VETO of Senate Bill 810. SB 810 would have taken away an adult consumer’s choice to use flavored vaping products that many individuals consider to be an important alternative to cigarettes.
The first reports from “Alligator Alcatraz” are deeply disturbing—nonworking toilets, extreme temperatures, little access to showers, toothbrushes, or attorneys.
This isn’t just about immigration—it’s about how we treat human beings in our custody.
NEW: The calls from Alligator Alcatraz’s first detainees brought distressing news: Toilets that didn’t flush. Temperatures went from freezing to sweltering. A hospitalization. And little or no access to showers, much less confidential calls w/ attorneys.
