- Lessons learned from PhD. 1. There are always people better than you-be happy for others success 2. Be nice academia can be a lonely place 3. Collaborate- it’s more fun 4. Be tenacious your ideas are not rubbish 5. Writing is tough, you get better. Friends and family- essential
- Honoured and humbled to announce that my last 10 journal decisions have all been rejections.
- Hanging up my stethoscope is the closest analogy. A tough job that I’ve been privileged to do. The medical Reg provides you with responsibility in my view like no other job- for that I’ll always be grateful. For the last time as the take registrar-I hand you over. Bleep drop.
- Thank you UK and the #NHS for everything you have given me. Entirely grateful for the doctor you made me, for the opportunities granted, the friendships made and the colleagues I’ve worked with along the way. So long for now- onto a new adventure.
- Delighted to be offered a position for the year ahead as a consultant Gastroenterologist @TheRMH. Thanks to all those who helped support along the way. Special thanks to @CKanagasundaram- only she knows how much I owe to her.
- Surgery is sometimes a positive choice in #IBD and shouldn’t be seen as a failure. Language around those patients that have been operated on matters.
- In my 10 years of being a doctor I’ve yet to receive a mandatory training email that isn’t accompanied by an aggressive threat if I don’t fill it out.
- I don’t usually share photos of myself but an incredibly proud moment hosting and creating the #melbourne #pouch meeting. Let’s make the lives of patients with a pouch even better.
- Pls get to know your team! Me: tell me something about you. SHO- my dad invented Infliximab. Me: no really tell me. SHO- shows me dad on Wikipedia-inventor of Infliximab 🤯
- Grateful to @UniMelb for offering me a clinical Associate Professorship today. Hope I can repay the faith you have shown in me.
- After 12 long weeks today I had the greatest gift- the return of my family. Forget all those things you think will make you happy... in reality it’s right in front of you.
- This is a brag and I’ll own it. Cos academia is a bloody hard slog. Cleared over 100 Pubmed papers. Some trash, some fillers but a few I am particularly proud of. Thanks to all the collaborators/ supervisors/supporters/ friends. You all rock.
- I don’t post patient entries on social media but I’ll take exception to this one from our medical student.
