Attorney General Garland just called!!!! DOJ will be issuing a new OLC memo today, clarifying that people on CARES act home confinement don’t need to return to prison at the end of the pandemic. I told him thousands would be grateful for this news before the holidays.

The Biden administration last week sent a 76-year-old cancer survivor back to federal prison because she went to a computer class without prior written approval. You read that right. #KeepThemHome / 1

DOJ has done it again. A handful of people from New Jersey were released last month after serving 19.5 years, thanks to the crack retroactivity provision in the First Step Act. Today, on the 30th day of their freedom, DOJ filed appeals to send them all back. Disgraceful.

Glad that President Trump invited Matthew Charles and Alice Marie Johnson to the State of the Union. No one could have predicted such a thing 2 years ago.

I think when most people hear that a person was sentenced to 15, 20, 30 years or even life, they assume the person deserved it and that society would be endangered if the person was released early. In the vast majority of cases, that's just not true.

Thanks to U.S. District Court Judge Sarah Evans Baker for granting compassionate release to a man whose wife just died and left their four kids without a parent. He served less than half his 14-yr sentence but is needed at home. This is a perfect use of compassionate release.

The fact that Gwen is sitting in DC jail right now is infuriating. She had been on home confinement for a year under the CARES Act & was helping us push the Biden admin to keep the 4,000 people like her home. She had become the face of this effort./2

People not understanding @3YearLetterman’s shtick, correcting or criticizing his tweets, then getting their responses retweeted by him is keeping me sane on this awful site.

This would be a good time for all celebrity criminal justice reformers to use their platforms to bring attention to the horror show happening in our prisons and jails.

8 years ago, my girls and I had a bittersweet Thanksgiving because we knew I had to report to prison in 7 weeks. That night, my 11yo made her Christmas list and included “for dad not to go,” which was very sweet and nearly broke my heart until I saw that it was 12th on her list.

Is this something cooked up by the America First Policy Institute? He mentions it in every speech. Just a couple years ago, he commuted the sentences of drug dealers. Now he wants them executed.

People in federal prison are hurting so badly right now. The lockdowns are taking a toll and families are getting increasingly worried about their loved ones' mental health. In more than a few prisons, people are getting out of their cells only 3 days a week for 20 mins a day.

That’s a ridiculous headline. 8 of 9000 reoffended. The rest just violated terms of home confinement.
