Most linebackers don't know how to watch film properly. They sit down and ask themselves "what am I looking for?" Then get confused at meetings with Coach and lost during plays. So I put together the 6 main elements of watching film and the questions to ask yourself : >>🧵<<

Most linebackers don’t know how to fill in for other LB positions (Mike-Sam-Will) If an injury happens, your ability to switch positions and fill in will : • Increase your value as a player • Allow you to stay on the field more • Give you more opportunities to make plays

The best linebackers are usually leaders. They communicate on the field. They put in the extra work outside of practice. They hold themselves and others accountable.

The biggest reason linebackers get lost, washed and taken out of plays? • Overthinking • Lack of trust in themselves • They’re trying to look at everything Trust yourself. Don’t second guess. Watch the flow of the play.

Luke Kuechly was a terror for offenses. He'd blow plays up before they happened. How did he do this? He used something more powerful than his body to position himself to make big time plays. Here's how Luke Kuechly terrorized opponents for 8 years in the NFL :

Don't play super hero every play. Play your role. If you're a filler? Fill the gap. Set the play up. If you're meant to shoot the gap? Shoot the gap. Not every play is yours to make.

When should I press my gap. When your Dline is getting double team. The easiest way to explain it will be: If no one is coming to block you! You must be able to put your eyes on the RB while sensing the blocking schemes upfront. It will take time to master

This will help you become 60 % more aware! AT LEAST ❗️ Down and distance, On some of the best Defences that I have played. We always had the WILL LB call out the Down and distance on every play. It helps you understand what kind of plays you will see.

You don’t need to remember everything on film. Look for the basics : • Tendencies • Which plays are succesful • When they’re attacking your position Keep it simple. Don’t overthink.

Stop competing for strength and size. Most linebackers are already jacked and strong enough to fight a bull. If you can be first to the ball more times and make a play. You're the guy. Strength and size are important. But it's not in the job description. Stopping offenses is.

Confidence is a linebacker’s bestfriend. You gain more of it by KNOWING you put in the work. Physically, mentally and spiritually. Hit the gym. Sprint the track. Watch the film. Perfect specific technique. Tell me you can’t be confident after all that.
