Okay so I Think it’s a Stylistic Choice for that particular hairstyle she has in that dress but here is like People Cosplaying as her as well as the character they have in the parks. I think the Look is to have her Ear hidden behind the head band or her hair in that area.

As we can see here Class we have some examples of the animated character not in her iconic princess dress and we can see in most of the pictures she does appear to have some area at the side of her face that would resemble an Ear.
