All great things must come to an end. Never thought I’d be writing/broadcasting UW sports for 5+decades. Grateful to all players, coaches, fans who made this my labor of love, my 24/7 passion. Once a Badger, always a Badger. Even today. As I step away. Will have more to say later

Thomas Wolfe had it all wrong. You can go home again. I'm proving it by returning to the Capital Times, where my first tour of duty spanned 39 years (1971-2010)

- Gonna miss watching these seniors. Hayes. Koenig. Showalter. Brown. Gonna miss watching them grow & interact. Gonna miss watching them win
- Started doing radio talk on WIBA in 1976. Was a labor of love all these years with tremendous partners. Told I was done after today's show. Will handle this with class/ professionalism unlike how I was treated. It was helluva run and I'm not done yet. You'll be hearing from me
- On Fox pregame Urban Meyer endorses UW QB: 'I actually met with Graham Mertz. Highly highly recruited player. We tried our best to get him. He was outstanding in high school. I don't think there's going to be a dropoff. I think this kid is going to be a great player at Wisconsin'
- With all due respect to Zach Edey, a physical freak and outlier, the math doesn't add up. How did he wind up with only 2 fouls (one was a technical)? Even CBS zebra expert Gene Steratore, a retired official, had trouble explaining Edey running over Tyler Wahl and Wahl fouling out
- Hard to imagine anyone playing with a higher level of intensity & efficiency & raw emotion against an elite opponent like MSU than Brad Davison who had career hi 30. Left floor after banging shoulder. Returned & hit 3 str stepback jumpers in McQuaid's face. Stuff of lore/legend.
- One more add to my Remiss List. Would be remiss not mentioning the transparency and empathy of Jim Leonhard in the way he handled everything (esp the players) as the interim head coach. Not surprised. This is who he is. A role model. A mentor. A Badger. Everyone can be proud of.
- UW will not let this postgame incident slide. Not a chance. This was not a first time for Juwan Howard, the head coach. Maybe needs to act like one. Under all circumstances. If you’re weighing He Said/He Said dynamic check out the tape. Tape don’t lie. Base your opinion off that
- Best player on the floor was not Zach Edey, the soon to be 2-time national POY. Best player was Chucky Hepburn who completely outperformed Braden Smith. It wasn't a banked 3 for the game-winner. Like it was a few years ago. But he got UW into OT and set up the winning possession
- Hard imaging more heart-warming storyline than Khalil Iverson retuning to team after family tragedy to contribute 11pt/7rebs. Huge in 1stH
- That Barry Alvarez is No.90 on ESPN list of 150 greatest CF coaches seems low/laughable. Inherited moribund program/half-empty stadium. LOSS in '63 Rose Bowl was gold standard prior to his arrival in '90. Created winning culture that has been sustainable all these decades later
- Potential UW lineup: Nolan Winter, John Blackwell (assuming doesn't turn pro), 6-10 Austin Rapp (WCC Frosh of Yr/3pt specialist); guard Nick Boyd (SDS, 3-years FAU, Final 4 starter); 6-6 wing/guard Andrew Rohde (UVA/Tony Bennett recruit/Cheesehead). What a early haul from portal.
- Classy move by Greg Gard after returning to hotel. First out of bus. Stood at front entrance. Exchanged hugs & hand shakes with each player
- A year ago, not 10 years ago, not 20 years ago, but just a year ago, the Badgers had 61 rushes for 391-yds vs. Illinois. What happened to that offense and team? Saturday they were limited to a net 2-yds. The longest rush was 5-yds. Ohio State was humbling. This was demoralizing.
