- Believe it was on that ancient website Ecclesiastes where they said there was a "time to gather and a time to cast away." The time to cast away has arrived: I'll be retiring Feb. 1 from the Detroit News. It has been a marvelous 40 years there, 45 years overall. Thank you to all.
- As pure baseball goes, those nine innings at Cleveland today belong in the Louvre. In terms of Tigers archival playoff home runs, Kerry Carpenter just joined Magglio Ordonez.
- Tigers will be auditioning Austin Jackson as a broadcast partner for Dan Dickerson during next month's series at Texas. Nice potential in Mr. Jackson.
- This Tigers-Mets telecast a true testament to why the Tigers paid whatever they had to pay to pry Jason Benetti from Chicago, Tigers wanted a Kell-Harwell presence in the booth. They got one.
- Did not expect this: Spoke today with retired Secret Service agent (they were aware of Saturday night, which is more than revealing). They blame, entirely, University of Michigan police. Agents say failing to eliminate "flash point" (tunnel after repeat warnings) was misconduct.

- Trey Sweeney doing nothing spectacular at shortstop for the Tigers. Plays defense. Gets his hits, has some power. But what a boost simple, steady two-way play has been during this Tigers revival. Javy Baez cannot return in 2025. Tigers seemingly will shop for a RH platoon option.
- Replying to @APReason why Canada, on our border, doesn't have anywhere near the pandemic problems we have? Canada has the smarts and resolve to make decisions that aren't always popular. Same with all the other countries that put a lid on this thing.

- Cannot tell you how many people critique the FSD baseball team and at some point complain about Kirk Gibson's voice inflection. The man has Parkinson's. A small decrease in voice energy hardly diminishes the value of his insights and words. They're gold.
- Replying to @SykesCharlieKarl Rove complaining about low blows is like Al Capone complaining about gangland excesses.
- Tigers had one of their smartest trade-deadline approaches and outcomes and are getting panned because they didn’t make The Big Deal. Which is because The Big Deal would have required The Big Return of farm talent they shouldn’t expend. They got bulk arms and didn’t overpay.
