❗️Support the campaign for Proportional Representation. 60% of the public agree: our voting system needs to change. Now we need to make Westminster listen. If you can, please support our crowdfunder and fuel the movement to fix our broken democracy👇

When Switzerland adopted PR over 100 years ago, it was understood that unequal votes lead to unequal societies. Today the UK is the only democracy in Europe to use First Past the Post. We have the 2nd worst income inequality, and the worst regional inequality of any rich nation.

Most democracies use Proportional Representation. Holyrood uses Proportional Representation. Stormont uses Proportional Representation. The Senedd uses Proportional Representation. The London Assembly uses Proportional Representation. Westminster should too.

Did you hear the one about Proportional Representation leading to instability? The most stable countries in the world all elect their governments by Proportional Representation. There's nothing stable about a First Past the Post government that only 43% of us voted for!

In 1996, New Zealand changed its voting system to a form of Proportional Representation. It hasn't led to chaos or confusion. It's led to one of the most effective responses to one of the biggest issues of our time. We should #ChangeTheVotingSystem too.

If the words 'Proportional Representation' make you switch off, we get it. We do. But, please understand, *you are being had* as a result. Because with First Past the Post, every issue you do care about is settled by a party most people rejected at the ballot box.

"3.7 million people voted for us last Thursday. Under a proportional voting system we would now easily be the 3rd largest party in this house, with 70 MPs." @EdwardJDavey MPs who jeer at remarks like this are really jeering at the voters silenced by our broken electoral system.

Proportional Representation won't be the end of the UK's political problems, but it will be the beginning of solving them.
