These Irish mammies spend their weekends protesting on the streets for trans youth. “As parents ourselves, we said: ‘Who’s going to stand up for them if it’s not us.” says Claire Flynn, a founder of Mammies for Trans Rights. Read more: thepinknews.com/2023/09/14/iri…

Our statement on the loss of the most wonderful Janey Godley. #JaneyGodley #TransRights #LoveWins #TransJoy
We find it difficult to put into words the impact of the passing of Janey Godley. We are thinking of her family and friends and also of the individual sadness of each person who found joy, support and love in her comedy and constant solidarity with trans people.

We didn’t know her. Some of us attended her gigs, some read her posts but all loved her from afar. We can’t say what she was really like; but we can say how she made us feel. In a society full of misdirected hate and prejudice towards trans people, Janey made it all make sense. She made us feel represented. She made us feel strong. She made our allyship feel impactful.

We will never know how many people she helped with her words of wisdom and joy. We will never know how many trans people’s journeys were made easier because a famous comedian cared, fearlessly, for trans people. We will remember her as an inspirational tower of strength.

    PROTEST INFORMATION
Everything you need to know to protest Posie Parker THIS SATURDAY @ 11am
    The Basics.

We will gather from 11am outside the Dáil on Kildare Street.

We will walk together roughly ten minutes to Posie’s Rally before her rally begins at 12.

Posie’s rally is happening from 12-2pm at Merrion Square.

Bring flags, a friend and lots of noise. Our goal is drown them out - instruments, sirens, speakers, whistles and loud voices very welcome!
    Accessibility

It is a ten minute walk to the rally, and we are unfortunately unable to provide seating due to the nature of this event.

Expect NOISE. Bring any earphones/earplugs/ear protection you may require. We encourage you to take sensory breaks - we really love you being there, but it’s most important to put yourself first.

Due to the high levels of Covid in the community at the moment, as well as to protect immunocompromised attendants, we encourage all protesters to wear masks
    Final things to consider

this is organised to protest far-right extremism, that is particularly routed in transphobia. At other rallies held by Parker, there have been white supremacists, Nazis, anti-abortion advocacy and more. Mind yourself, and step away if you need to. Bring a friend and we encourage you to not travel to or from the event alone.

Present yourself to one of our stewards if you have any issues. At the Dáil, we will show you who to go to. There will be a visible Garda presence, and we have briefed them on respecting and supporting our community.

Stay peaceful. Stay safe. Mind each other.

Mammies were at the protest this evening in Belfast, against the further restriction of trans healthcare. This will be a distressing time for many affected. Our trans loved ones need our vocal, visible allyship now more than ever. #TransRights #Ally

A statement on behalf of Mammies For Trans Rights. #LoveWins
The Mams have been chatting about the elections, particularly the level of respect given to candidates who are female or are from a minority background.

Some time in the future, maybe it will be ten or twenty years, someone will ask: who is Saoirse Mackin?

Someone will say, she was only trans candidate in the whole of Ireland in the 2024 election. They will talk about how wild that must’ve been.

How challenging. How brave. How Saoirse paved the way.

Whatever the election outcome, Saoirse, we want you to know we, the Mams, are very proud of you, as you should be of yourself.

Ádh mór agus míle buíochas, Saoirse 💚🏳️‍⚧️
