The desolation of bereavement. It should be a happy day, celebrating the birthday of our beloved Fintan. Instead, we miss his presence as acutely as ever. You are always in our thoughts my darling boy.

I’ve spent this afternoon watching the funeral of Shane McGowan. I have never seen anything like it. Such joy, pride and sadness in a poet who spoke not only for a generation but for a diaspora that was often forgotten #RipShaneMacGowan We are a nation of superb musicians.

So they censored @siobhni. We can’t tell politicians to ‘wise up’ now? Thank you Siobhan for not being afraid to speak truth to power ✊💜

What actually happened VS what the BBC aired. Tell me again how the BBC is unbiased? Why have they cut that out? @siobhni @scottygb

A disgrace that nationalist communities are still being corralled because of Orange marching bands.

I lived in Bristol for many years & am pleased to see the dismantling of some traces of its ignoble past in slavery but we in Ireland can’t think #Colston and suchlike were unique to Britain. Here are names & details of some of the Irish owners of slaves, shown in Linenhall lib

Solidarity with Katy Hayward, an academic who conducts research, collects evidence and presents facts. She does not push an agenda. Those hysterics who oppose her cannot understand that. She is also a truly good, authentic person. My son was privileged to be taught by her.

Tell you what, @CatharineHoey @JamieBrysonCPNI et al. - Rather than gaily besmirching my reputation, independence, expertise & employer, how about you set out exactly what of my<90secs of #bbcqt @bbcquestiontime contribution that was biased or factually incorrect.

Feeling v aggrieved. Write letter to @IrishTimes supporting campaign for Maud Gonne statue, responding to letter by Prof Ferriter. I’ve written well regarded biography of Gonne & suggested location, based on her campaigning work. IT publishes 2 letters from men, both objecting.

Proud to have attended the ceremony in Murlough Bay today to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the execution of Roger Casement and to support the campaign to bring Casement home to the place he loved, honouring his last request.

My privilege and pleasure to talk about (and defend) one of our most notable women. As full of integrity, passion and commitment now as she was 50 years ago.

The most appropriate image for the day that’s in it. The anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. Let us not forget the pivotal role played by the NÍ Secretary of State at the time - Mo Mowlam. How badly do we need someone of her calibre now #GoodFridayAgreement
