The City of Burlington is a welcoming and inclusive community that embraces and celebrates diversity among all our residents. As we celebrate #BurlON’s 150+ anniversary this year, we’re reminded of the words on our City’s crest “Stand By” — it means we, as a community, stand by

We will not be using the new powers outlined in Bill 66. Burlington residents benefit from environmental protections. We will not be comprising their safety or quality of life for speed. ca.news.yahoo.com/lawyers-slam-d…

The @cityburlington stands with all members of our 2SLGBTQI+ community. We proudly #FlyTheFlag for Pride month each June & painted a rainbow crosswalk on Lakeshore (the first of many). To our young people & students, we hear you, we see you, we support you. You are welcome here.

Flags @cityburlington City Hall are now lowered to honour 215 children found in a mass grave at a residential school in Kamloops. Flags will stay down for one hour for every child whose life was taken, nine days. I also add my voice for a national day of mourning #215children

What if…my husband had said no to spending $40 for a PSA test for prostate cancer, while getting other blood work done? What if…we couldn’t afford it, and didn’t want to choose between today’s groceries and a health test? We wouldn’t have caught the cancer that was aggressive

Bill 23 will devastate municipal finances & our ability to fund things like parks, community centres, transit. Those costs will be shifted from for- profit developers to taxpayers. We’ll show that as a line item on your next tax bill. No guarantee savings will be passed to buyers

Our community always shows up to show they care. Racism has no place in our city. Every person is equal and we support the global movement to end systemic anti-black racism and all racism. We will listen, we will learn, and we will take action together. ❤️
