Pleasantly surprised to see this on the UN stand at COP. Long overdue recognition that grasslands play a massive part when it comes to carbon storage. After speaking to those on the stand there was clear acceptance that proper grazing management has a vital role. About time.

- So it looks like Boris has decided NOT to take the advice of U.K. farmers, environmentalists and our consumers who are interested in animal welfare standards and food production systems. We’re told there will be protections in place but won’t tell us what they are. Unbelievable.
- Thought I’d give you all a lift. Just came back in from checking the highland cows, thinking my girls were busy in the tunnels, to discover they’re multitasking skills were keeping their spirits up.
00:00 - Sometimes it’s great just to take a few seconds, stand back and watch. Food, carbon capture and the environment all rolled into one. Productive agriculture.
00:00 - Couldn’t help but notice the difference, 1st photo was flying in to Brussels on Thursday where I did think, yes a bit more greening wouldn’t do any harm. 2nd photo was flying back into Edinburgh today where I thought, stop treating Scottish farmers like they don’t care.
- This exponential increase in these rodents will eventually cost billions. Not to mention future reliance on importing more food as a result of our inability to produce it here. Ironically, many parts of the green agenda are the biggest threat to our economy and our environment.

00:00 - Excellent meeting with First Minister @HumzaYousaf highlighting the vital role the sector plays in our rural economy, and also its importance in supporting rural communities and caring for our environment, including if allowed our ability to help with flood management.
- It’s maybe cold but it’s seasonal. Veganuary won’t give you scenic beauty or managed landscapes such as this. Livestock production delivers so much more than the forgotten necessity of high quality local food. Happy New Year from a “Highland” Perthshire.
00:00 - Last time we did this was in 2010, sadly we couldn’t put a full rink together for obvious reasons, however couldn’t miss the opportunity to have a go ourselves. Always amazes me how quick the ice gets fast on an outdoor rink.
- Looking across the valley today I see all types of farming not only producing quality food, but holding rural communities together, driving the economy, maintaining our beautiful environment that drives tourism and tackling climate change. MPs must vote to protect this tomorrow.
- 1200ft up and rising to over 2,000ft in the north Pennines. Very active and productive farming here. As with the vast majority of Scotland this should be recognised for the huge carbon sequestration it provides, and not unfairly put down by a one sided inaccurate calculation.
00:00- Let’s hope the weather behaves over the next few days. Three fields of hay desperately needing cut now decked, the risk of this going wrong is all mine. Retailers never have this worry or risk, yet they ask us to do more and claim the credit for sustainability. This must change.
- Sad News that @FergusEwingSNP will no longer be minister for Agriculture. I wish him all the best and thank him for his support for our industry over his term as cabinet secretary. I hope his replacement will have the same recognition of the importance of agriculture in Scotland
